Press Release: NETWORK Kicks off 2014 Nuns on the Bus Campaign in Des Moines, Iowa – with Vice President Joe Biden in Attendance

After a rousing kick-off ceremony in front of the state capitol in Des Moines, Iowa, NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus are today sponsoring two Iowa town hall meetings, one in Council Bluffs and one in Sioux City.  Vice President Joe Biden joined the Catholic sisters yesterday for the kick-off ceremony. He delivered a powerful speech supporting the issues we work on, including healthcare access, a faithful budget, immigration reform, “a decent living wage,” and civic engagement. He was also full of praise for NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus and Catholic sisters in general: "I know no group of people who bring more passion to what they do.” Read more

Press Release: NETWORK Announces Launch of New NUNS ON THE BUS Multi-state Tour for Voter Engagement

On September 17, NETWORK’s famous Nuns on the Bus will launch a new bus trip for justice. Traveling to 10 states in a bus emblazoned with the words “We the People, We the Voters,” the Catholic Sisters, led by Sister Simone Campbell*, will engage thousands of people with the goal of greatly expanding voter engagement this November. Washington DC: NETWORK Executive Director Simone Campbell, SSS, joined with 40 other Catholic leaders in signing a letter to Republican candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. The letter challenges the candidates to refrain from ugly racial stereotyping and other forms of divisive rhetoric rooted in bigotry.
