Planned Giving: Leaving a Legacy of Justice
"We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident
that its ever widening circle will reach around the world."
- Dorothy Day
When NETWORK was created in 1971 by 47 women religious who
passed a bag to collect $187, the founders had no guarantee
that their vision of a Catholic lobby for justice would survive,
let alone flourish. But the faithfulness, commitment, hard work
and generosity of many people over the past three decades have
established a thriving and growing organization that is here
to stay.
Planned giving is one way that YOU can help to ensure that
NETWORK's prophetic voice for justice remains clear and strong
throughout the 21st century and beyond!
Bequests
You may leave a bequest in your will to NETWORK (for lobbying), or to NETWORK Education Program (NETWORK's educational partner organization).
NETWORK is designated as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit. NETWORK Education Program (NEP) is designated
as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Make sure that your attorney/tax advisor/financial
advisor is aware of this. The estate tax implications (both
federal and state) are different for a 501(c)(4) than for a
501(c)(3) nonprofit.
To leave a bequest to NETWORK, you can use
the following language:
I give and bequeath the sum of $_____________ (or, ________%
of my residuary estate) to NETWORK, A National Catholic Social
Justice Lobby, a nonprofit organization incorporated in the
District of Columbia, with the business address of 25 E Street
NW, Suite 200, Washington, D.C. 20001 (Federal Identification
#52-0984255), or its successor organization.
To leave a bequest to NETWORK Education Program,
you can use this language:
I give and bequeath the sum of $_____________ (or, ________%
of my residuary estate) to NETWORK Education Program, a nonprofit
organization incorporated in the District of Columbia, with
the business address of 25 E Street NW, Suite 200, Washington,
D.C. 20001 (Federal Identification #52-1307764), or its successor
organization.
If you wish, you may request that your bequest to NETWORK
Education Program be applied to the Endowment:
I give and bequeath the sum of $_____________ (or, ________%
of my residuary estate) to the Endowment Fund of NETWORK Education
Program, a nonprofit organization incorporated in the District
of Columbia, with the business address of 25 E Street NW, Suite
200, Washington, D.C. 20001 (Federal Identification #52-1307764),
or its successor organization.
Again, please be aware in your estate planning process that NETWORK is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, while NETWORK
Education Program (NEP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Thank you for your interest in leaving a legacy of justice!
Your planned gift will help to build a more just and compassionate
world.

Retirement Plans
You can name NETWORK or NETWORK Education Program as a beneficiary
(any percentage you choose) of a life insurance plan or retirement
plan (IRA, Sep IRA, Keogh, 401[k], or 403[b]). To do this, simply
request a "change-of-beneficiary" form from your plan's
administrator. The form may ask for the Federal Identification
Number, which you'll find in the bequest information above.
Make sure that your attorney/tax advisor/financial advisor
is aware that NETWORK is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization
and that NETWORK Education Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization.
Thank you for your solidarity with our work of seeking justice
for people who are poor!

Trusts
Charitable trusts offer a way of supporting NETWORK Education
Program while at the same time providing financially for yourself,
your family or your heirs.
A charitable lead trust would provide payments to NETWORK Education
Program during your lifetime; the trust principle would then
go to your designated heirs. A charitable remainder trust would
provide payments to you or someone you've designated during
your lifetime; the trust principle would then go to NETWORK
Education Program. Charitable trusts offer substantial tax benefits.
Thank you for your interest in leaving a legacy of justice!

Gifts of Stock
Gifts of stock are a great way putting the stock market to
work for justice!
If you're interested in making a gift of stock to NETWORK, NETWORK
Education Program, or the NETWORK Education Program Endowment
Fund, contact NETWORK's investment broker:
Michael Lent, Progressive Asset Management, 800-659-8189
Michael can answer any questions you may have about how to
set up a stock transfer.
Because NETWORK Education Program (NEP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit,
gifts to NEP or the NEP Endowment Fund are tax deductible. Gifts
to NETWORK are not tax deductible, because NETWORK lobbies the
federal government and is therefore designated as a 501(c)(4)
nonprofit. Make sure that your attorney/tax advisor/financial
advisor is aware of this information.
Thank you for your interest in making a gift of stock. The
generosity of our concerned and faithful supporters is the foundation
of our justice work.
