NETWORK focuses on elements of the federal budget that move our nation and world toward economic justice. We analyze the elements to determine how they affect people at the margins and those with the least economic power.
NETWORK supports needed safety-net programs, including housing, supplemental nutrition programs, child care, job creation, fair labor practices, refundable tax credits, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Additionally, we focus on support of programs for the rehabilitation of the Gulf Coast region in terms of housing and coastal restoration.
At an international level, we work toward shifts of funding from war-production to support of refugees and displaced persons.
“Our faith calls us to measure this economy, not only by what it produces, but also by how it touches human life and whether it protects or undermines the dignity of the human person.” U.S. Bishops, Economic Justice for All (1986)
