The Catholic Social Teaching principle of universal human dignity demands not only that our nation not engage in violence, but that we also help rebuild countries like Iraq that have been damaged by our military action. Their citizens should have what they need to lead peaceful, productive, stable lives, especially after enduring the violence of war.
Further, NETWORK believes that the U.S. should develop ethical foreign policies that emphasize conflict resolution through multilateral diplomacy instead of unilateral U.S. military action.
NETWORK’S peacemaking agenda includes:
- Investment in peacebuilding [1] and economic development in Iraq [2], including Iraqi refugee and internally-displaced assistance
- Promoting peace and justice in Afghanistan
[3] - A new approach to security called "3D Security: Development, Diplomacy and Defense [4]".
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9
