Medicaid: District of Columbia

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Mayor Vincent Gray (D) reaffirmed his commitment to accept federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. 

Medicaid: Hawaii

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Neil Abercrombie (D) indicated his plans to accept federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is also expected to go along with this decision. 

Medicaid: Connecticut

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Dan Malloy (D) indicated his plans to accept federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is also expected to go along with this decision. 

Medicaid: Rhode Island

Status:

June 28, 2012:  Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Lincoln Chaffee (I) indicated his plans to accept federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is also expected to go along with this decision.  

Medicaid: Massachusetts

Status:

June 28, 2012: Governor Deval Patrick (D) supports accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured, as does the legislature. 

Medicaid: New Hampshire

Status:

November 6, 2012: Governor Maggie Hassan (D), who was elected last November, has indicated her support of accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. It is not yet clear whether the legislature, with Republican majorities, will also go along with this decision.

Ways to Get Involved:

Medicaid: Vermont

Status:

June 28, 2012: Governor Peter Shumlin supports accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is expected to also move forward with this decision. 

Medicaid: Maine

Status:

November 16, 2012: Governor Paul LePage (R) has rejected federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate are expected to push for accepting this money.
