Medicaid: Vermont

Status:

June 28, 2012: Governor Peter Shumlin supports accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is expected to also move forward with this decision. 

Medicaid: Maine

Status:

May 24, 2013: Governor Paul LePage (R) has rejected federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. Lawmakers have passed legislation that would provide this extended health coverage, but Governor LePage has vetoed this legislation.

February 20, 2013: Governor Rick Scott (R) has accepted federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With Republican majorities in the legislature, there is much work to do!

July 1, 2012: Governor Nikki Haley (R) has rejected federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With Republican majorities in the legislature, there is much work to do!

As of January 31, 2012: Governor Pat McCrory (R) has not yet made a decision on accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, there is much work to do!

Status:

As of January 31, 2013: Governor Earl Ray Tomblin (D) has yet to make a decision on accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured.

Medicaid: Delaware

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Jack Markell (D) indicated his intention to accept federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is expected to also support this decision.  

Medicaid: Maryland

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Martin O’Malley (D) expressed his intention to accept federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. The legislature is expected to also support this decision.  

Medicaid: Pennsylvania

Status:

September 16, 2013: Governor Tom Corbett (R) has introduced an alternate Pennsylvania plan for Medicaid Expansion. This plan will need to be approved by federal health officials and the state legislature.
