Fresh Food Bill Cosponsors Needed

In March, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) introduced H.R. 4971, the Greening Food Deserts Act, to help increase local agricultural production and fresh food availability in U.S. communities known as “food deserts” because of their limited access to affordable and nutritious food. Read more

Green Building

NETWORK strongly supports individual, corporate and government actions that help support (or renew) healthy ecosystems. The homes in which we live tell much about our environmental values. NETWORK encourages incorporation of environmentally responsible ways of living, as these become available.

Platform for the Common Good

During the 2008 election season, as the political parties developed their political platforms, many Catholics groups came together to develop a Platform for the Common Good.  This platform is based on principles from Catholic social tradition and addresses what we can do to make our nation “a more perfect union” focused on the common good.

Ecology

The Catholic Social Teaching principle of stewardship of God’s creation generates a special responsibility in our use of material things: the production, transport, sale and disposal of goods must be respectful of ecological systems and all that depends on those systems. This is also a requirement for our own survival: we simply cannot live without clean air, clean water and a healthy environment.

Issues

NETWORK’s issue agenda for the 113th Congress is focused on the issue areas below.

In line with our mission as a Catholic leader in the global movement for justice and peace, NETWORK’s position on each of these issue areas is informed by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and the lived experience of real people. We especially focus on people struggling at the economic margins and see poverty alleviation as an integral part of our mission.
