Join with Pope Francis to Pray and Act for an End to Hunger

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a lifeline for the one in six Americans that struggle with hunger. In the coming month, Congressional Conferees working on the Farm Bill are expected to cut as much as $8 billion from SNAP. Please tell Congress: no more cuts. Prevent hunger by protecting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

If you know you are a constituent of a Farm Bill conferee, please call 1-866-689-7681.

Here’s what you might say:

Hi, my name is __________ (name) from __________ (city), and I am a part of _________ (faith community/organization.) As a person of faith and your constituent, I call on you to do everything you can to prevent any further cruel cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beyond the ones families already experienced in November. The SNAP program is a lifeline for struggling families, as 76% of the people the program serves are children, seniors, or people with disabilities. As you prepare to make decisions about the Farm Bill and the federal budget, I pray you will prioritize people who are most vulnerable in our nation, remembering that the measure of our nation’s greatness is how we treat those who are struggling.
