How appalling that the cry of “class warfare!” is currently drowning out reasonable people who say that all groups in our nation should pay our fair share in taxes -- and that includes millionaires and billionaires!
Paul Krugman’s column today provides a lot of helpful information. As he states, “Republicans claim to be deeply worried by budget deficits. Indeed, Mr. Ryan has called the deficit an “existential threat” to America. Yet they are insisting that the wealthy — who presumably have as much of a stake as everyone else in the nation’s future — should not be called upon to play any role in warding off that existential threat.”
So where do we go from here? When will we all recognize that there should be shared sacrifice and shared benefits across the board? Take a look at more of what Paul Krugman has to say about the need to consider the social contract.
This is all a matter of fairness, pure and simple.
