Medicaid: Minnesota

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Mark Dayton (D) expressed his support for accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. It is expected that the legislature will also support this decision.

Medicaid: Oklahoma

Status:

November 19, 2012: Governor Mary Fallin (R) has rejected federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With strong Republican majorities in the legislature, there is much work to do!

Medicaid: Kansas

Status:

As of January 31, 2013: Governor Sam Brownback (R) has yet to make a decision on accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With large Republican majorities in the legislature, there is much work to do!

Medicaid: Nebraska

Status:

June 28, 2012: Following the Supreme Court decision, Governor Dave Heineman (R) vowed to reject the federal money to provide health coverage for the uninsured. While the unicameral legislature is officially nonpartisan, consideration of unofficial affiliation shows a Republican majority, so there is much work to do!

Status:

December 4, 2012: Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) has rejected federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With large Republican majorities in the legislature, there is much work to do!

Medicaid: North Dakota

Status:

April 16, 2013: Governor Jack Dalrymple (R) signed legislation to accept federal funding to provide health coverage to the uninsured. We applaud Governor Dalrymple, as well as members of the North Dakota House and Senate who voted for this bill!

Medicaid: New Mexico

Status:

January 9, 2013: Governor Susana Martinez (R) supports accepting federal funding to provide health coverage for the uninsured. With Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate, New Mexico is expected to accept this funding. 

Medicaid: Colorado

Status:

January 3, 2013: Governor John Hickenlooper (D) supports accepting the federal funding for providing health coverage to the uninsured. This measure passed the House on April 17, 2013, and it will now move on to the Senate.

Medicaid: Wyoming

Status:

November 30, 2012: Governor Matt Mead (R) has rejected the federal funding for providing health coverage to the uninsured. However, he has indicated some willingness to reconsider in the future. With strong Republican majorities in the House and Senate, there is much work to do!

Ways to Get Involved:

Medicaid: Montana

Status:

January 4, 2013: Governor Steve Bullock (D) supports accepting the federal money to provide health coverage to the uninsured. With Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, there may be significant opposition to overcome in order to accept this funding.
